Vertical blinds- should you get them?

by Clare Louise

There are two main types of blinds used in houses and offices: vertical blinds and horizontal blinds. Horizontal blinds are used much more commonly of the two types since they represent traditional 1 “-2” blinds that are most frequently seen in small to medium windows. Vertical blinds use much larger ribbons that hang from a head rail that is often mounted on a track, allowing them to open and close with a wand or pulley system. Many housing and businesses use vertical blinds to cover large windows or sliding glass doors.

It is important to remember that there are clear differences between vertical and horizontal blinds, and both have advantages and inconveniences. Knowing those differences before making a purchase can help you make sure you get the appropriate window treatments for your windows and home.

How are vertical blinds and horizontal blinds similar?

There are two main ways in which vertical blinds and horizontal blinds are similar:

Light protection: blinds are designed to block light, and if they are oriented vertically or horizontally, they are highly effective to achieve that task. In fact, vertical and horizontal blinds can provide levels of almost Blackout light protection, which makes them ideal for rooms such as bedrooms, home offices, nurseries, theaters at home, and more.

Similar materials: vertical and horizontal blinds are made with similar materials. Vertical Blindster blinds include PVC and false wood, giving them a light construction that facilitates installation, even for larger orders.

What are the benefits of vertical blinds and horizontal blinds?

No matter what type of blinds choose, you will get all the benefits of high-quality windows. However, both types of blinds are better for different things, so choosing the right type for their needs is an essential step:

Vertical blinds

They are ideal for sliding doors and wide windows. While traditional horizontal blinds can be made to measure to adapt to sliding doors and wide windows, they are simply not practical in many cases. Vertical blinds are much better adjustments since they open and close easily and can even cover the wider windows and doors.

They are easy to clean. In addition to not collecting as much dust as horizontal blinds, vertical blinds are easier to clean because they are made of two materials that are highly resistant to moisture: PVC and false wood. That means that more cleaning products can be used without worrying about the colors that fader or stains.

They block more light. Vertical blinds have much larger and wider slats than horizontal blinds, which means that a single vertical blind can block more sunlight than even larger personalized horizontal blinds.
